FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most important questions about booking, check-in, amenities and the surrounding area. Can't find the right answer here? Write to us — we usually reply within 30 minutes.

  1. How does check-in work?

Self-check-in from 3 pm via a keypad lock on the apartment door. You'll receive the code by email by noon on your arrival day.

  2. Is there a lift?

Yes, the building has a lift up to the third floor.

  3. Where is the best place to park?

The 7th district is a short-stay parking zone. We recommend the Stiftgasse car park (5 minutes' walk, around €28/day) — or, better still, arrive without a car.

  4. Is the studio suitable for working from home?

There's a small table by the window and a solid Wi-Fi connection (150 Mbit). For longer working spells we recommend our apartments with a dedicated workspace.

  5. Is the mezzanine steep?

The staircase up to the sleeping gallery has 12 steps with a handrail — more comfortable than a classic ladder, but not suitable for small children.

  6. How warm does it get under the roof?

The building is solidly built; in summer the cross-ventilation through two window fronts helps. There's a fan in the cupboard.

  7. Is there a workspace?

Yes, a desk overlooking Spittelberggasse — and Wi-Fi at 150 Mbit.

  8. Which places do you recommend on the Spittelberg?

Amerlingbeisl in the courtyard (a classic), Witwe Bolte for Viennese cooking, and the Glacis Beisl behind the MuseumsQuartier.

  9. Are dogs really allowed?

Yes — as the only one of our apartments, the Garden Apartment is expressly open to pets. We ask only that dogs are not left alone in the apartment.

  10. Is the garden private?

The garden behind the apartment belongs exclusively to it; you reach it directly from the living room.

  11. Is there a cot?

Yes, a cot and high chair are ready — please note it when booking and we'll set everything up before you arrive.

  12. May we use the barbecue?

Yes, there's a gas barbecue in the garden. The gas bottle is connected and the barbecue tools are in the kitchen drawer.

  13. How noisy is the ground floor?

The apartment faces the courtyard — you'll hear practically nothing from the street. In the evening, at most the blackbirds chirp in the lilac.

  14. Does the fireplace work?

The fireplace is decorative — original from 1894, but no longer in use. The central heating handles the warming far more reliably.

  15. Why is there a minimum stay during Advent?

Between late November and Christmas we require a 3-night minimum stay — demand around the Christmas markets is enormous.

  16. How far is the Christmas market at the city hall?

12 minutes' walk through the lanes of Josefstadt — a lovely approach included.

  17. Is the apartment suitable for six people?

The dining table seats six, but a maximum of four guests can sleep in the two bedrooms.

  18. Is the cabinet a proper room?

The cabinet has a single bed, a window onto the courtyard and a door — small, but a proper room. Ideal for a child or a third adult.

  19. How far is it to the centre?

With tram D you're at the Opera in 8 minutes; on foot you'll reach Stephansplatz in 20 minutes.

  20. Is there a coffee machine?

An espresso machine plus a grinder — we provide beans from a Viennese roastery to welcome you.

  21. What's behind the name?

The furnishings quote the Wiener Werkstätte and Klimt's golden period — no originals on the walls, but the Belvedere is only a tram ride away.

  22. How old can a child be for the cot?

The travel cot takes children up to about 3 years (15 kg). We provide bedding for the cot.

  23. Is there really a parking space?

Yes, a firmly assigned space in the inner courtyard — if you're arriving by car, please send us the number plate in advance.

  24. How early does the palace park open?

In summer from 6.30 — the insider tip: before 9 am the Gloriette is almost yours alone.

  25. Are the two bathrooms equivalent?

The main bathroom has a bathtub (children!), the second a shower and a second WC — worth its weight in gold with six guests.

  26. Does the "rodzinne" filter really work?

Yes — cot, high chair and child-safe fittings are all logged in our filters. This residence is our family flagship.

  27. Can the hot tub be used all year?

Yes, the outdoor hot tub runs year-round at 37 °C — in winter, with a view of snow-covered rooftops, it's an experience.

  28. Why the strict cancellation terms?

The penthouse is booked far in advance; we can rarely fill short-notice gaps. Full refund up to 30 days before arrival.

  29. Is there a concierge service?

Yes — restaurant reservations, opera tickets, flowers on the dining table: write to us before arrival and we'll take care of it.

  30. How private is the terrace?

Completely — no view in from neighbouring buildings, just you, the sky and the city.

  31. Exactly how wide are the doors?

The apartment door is 95 cm, all internal doors 90 cm clear width. The turning circle in the bathroom is 160 cm.

Yes, a fold-down wall seat plus two grab rails; the shower head is height-adjustable from 90 to 200 cm.

  33. How does the step-free route from the station work?

Wien Mitte has lifts on all lines. From the station concourse to the apartment door: 240 m without a single step.

  34. Is there an accessible parking space?

In the Wien Mitte car park (2 min) there are accessible spaces on level -1 right by the lift — please report the number plate in advance.

  35. May we read the books?

Expressly yes — except the top shelf (collector's items behind glass). Bookmarks are on the mantelpiece.

  36. Who owns the apartment?

A private Viennese owner whose apartment we manage exclusively — service, cleaning and care run entirely through the Amelia team.

  37. How far is the Naschmarkt?

8 minutes' walk along Schleifmühlgasse — on Saturdays the detour via the flea market is worth it.

Yes, a writing bureau by the window — with a green banker's lamp, as it should be.

  39. How does the monthly discount work?

From 30 nights the nightly price drops by 25 % — and no more VAT applies. The booking calculator shows both automatically.

  40. Is there a monitor at the workspace?

Yes, a 27-inch monitor with USB-C, plus a height-adjustable chair and proper lighting — home office without the neck ache.

  41. Is interim cleaning included?

For stays of 30 nights or more we clean monthly, including a change of bed linen and towels — more often on request (surcharge).

  42. Can I register my residence here (Meldezettel)?

For stays under 3 months no registration is needed; for longer ones we're glad to help with the proof of residence.

  43. Why is the studio so affordable?

A prefab block rather than a period building, function rather than stucco — but with a U1 connection, parking and the Alte Donau within walking distance. An honest price for honest value.

Yes! The Gänsehäufel or the free bays are 10 minutes' walk away — May to September, a dream.

  45. Is the parking secure?

U1 from Kagran: 12 minutes to Stephansplatz, no changes.

The Hauptallee to the Lusthaus and back — 9 km, perfectly flat, under chestnut trees. Water stations in summer.

Yes — the corner window frames the south tower. We positioned the bed especially for it.

The Pummerin rings only on high occasions; the everyday peal is part of the experience and falls silent at night (10 pm–7 am).

  57. Is it hot in summer?

A rooftop position, south-facing windows — yes, which is why there's air conditioning. In July and August we'll run it before your arrival on request.

Café Diglas on the Wollzeile (4 min) or — without the tourists — the Kleines Café on Franziskanerplatz.

A sliding door separates the salon and bedroom — the third guest sleeps with privacy.

Before the performance: the Bitzinger sausage stand (honest!) or Café Museum. Afterwards: the Sacher Rote Bar, if it's to feel festive.

Yes, a black-and-white laser printer in the study — paper is provided, please print sparingly.

Two couples upstairs, the fifth person downstairs in the single-bed room — everyone has their own level and bathroom.

  73. What does "Paris of Vienna" mean?

The neighbourhood around Servitengasse: the density of bistros, the trees, the pavement tables — Vienna doesn't get more French than this.

  74. Is there a dishwasher?

Yes, plus a large dining table and proper pots — the eat-in kitchen is built for cooking together.

  75. How far is the Konzerthaus?

4 minutes' walk — you'll still make it to your seat on time after the second bell.

  76. Is the Kursalon waltz evening worth it?

Touristy but charming — and the walk home takes 5 minutes. We're glad to source tickets.

The same apartment, a better price (no portal commission) and more flexible cancellation terms — we treat direct bookers preferentially.

  78. Is the Stadtpark safe at night?

Yes, well lit and lively — though the morning jog (a 1.4 km loop) is the nicer story.

  79. Can both Wessely apartments be booked together?

  80. Is there a washing machine?

Mayer am Pfarrplatz (Beethoven!), Hirt for the view, Sirbu on the Nussberg in summer — all under 20 minutes' walk.

No — the 38A stops outside the door. For the surrounding area (the Wachau!) a hire car is handy, though; there's parking at the house.

  85. When is the grape harvest?

  86. Is the garden fenced?

Yes, completely — children and (by arrangement) dogs can run free.

No — but you're standing in front of it in 3 minutes' walk, best at 8 am before the coaches arrive.

Hundertwasser's own museum, 5 minutes' walk — less known than the house, but more rewarding (and with a café in the green courtyard).

A desk by the window, 150 Mbit Wi-Fi — for a few home-office days, absolutely.

Yes, for recurring project stays we set up framework terms — get in touch with our team.
